The Parent–Teen Communication Program

This family program aims to enhance the parenting skills of parents and caregivers in the Arab community and strengthen the communication with their teenagers through free online training and workshops. 

Parents and teens will participate in one program where the curriculum and setting are designed to involve these two generations. They will learn knowledge related to adolescents such as:


• Building a successful family and nurturing leadership through positive communication

• Bonding with your teen while maintaining boundaries

• High school system, enhancing a good relationship with your child school

• Instilling social skills and managing use of technology

• Peel CAS: Working with families to keep children and youth safe

• Dealing with bullying, peer pressure (drugs, alcohol, gangs, etc.)


Parent-Teen Communication program will be offered Virtually VIA Zoom Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30 PM for Peel residents on the following dates for six weekly sessions. 

Round 1: Sept 12- Oct 15,2020 Round 2: Oct 27- Dec 1,2020

Round 3: Dec 15- Jan 26,2020 Round 4: Feb 2 – Mar 9,2021

Round 5: Mar 16- Apr 20,2021 Round 6: Apr 27 – Jun 1,2021

Round 7: Jun 8 – Jul 13,2021


Program Participants:

Parents, caregivers for teenagers and teenagers between the ages of 12 – 18 years old from the Arabic-speaking community.

The Parent – Teen Communication program will be delivered in Arabic and English

• Syrian Active Volunteers
