I am enormously grateful for the opportunity to have my practicum done at MIAG. While observing during my practicum, I had the opportunity to work with the Parenting for Success program team for Arabic, Spanish, and Mandarin rounds. Particularly, while helping in these sessions, I developed a deeper understanding of how to interact with the MIAG team and the families. As I worked with them, I was able to learn so many new skills and develop and grow in some areas. I also discovered my strengths and weaknesses, and that was very important for my growth.

I joined the organization on September 2022 and ended up everything successfully on April 2023. I am more than convinced that this year will indicate a lot in my future as a professional in this fi eld. Solinas, was my supervisor and she is very professional and empathic. I am very grateful for the opportunity that Solinas and all the staff members gave to me to be part of the team and develop my placement with MIAG. Everyone is there to help and support each other and they respect each other opinions and give constructive feedback. It feels like you are at home, as it has safe and passionate environment that keeps you going and achieving the goals of the organization. I am delighted to share my experience as a social service worker student who had an incredible opportunity to complete my practicum at MIAG organization. My practicum has been wonderful and transformative experience, impacting my professional growth and personal development. During the process, I had the privilege to collaborate with dedicated professionals who demonstrated passion, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals and families from diverse backgrounds. The support and guidance from my supervisor and colleagues have left an unforgettable mark on my journey. "My experience at MIAG was one that I will never forget. At first, it was intimidating as I was one of the only males at MIAG which is understandable as it is geared towards women and diverse families. However, the more I was involved the more I felt like a family with MIAG's Team and Project Coordinator Solinas. We succeeded on completing two of the educational workshops. Additionally, I have come to learn about outreach and how non-for-profit organizations run. However, I found that my technical skills came in handy to help out with the tasks given. Furthermore, my perspective of the youth and families have changed especially around mental health as well as, my perspective of parenting and youth with mental health disorders has changed drastically. In this experience I have learned about positive parenting and how to help your child grow up and develop healthfully. In addition to that, I learned about the different types of mental disorders like ADHD, Bi-Polar Disorder, Depression. I feel my experience with MIAG has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to serve my community when I become a Police Officer in the near future."

"As a practicum student, my time at MIAG was very educational. I felt at home at MIAG because everyone was so welcoming. I was able to acquire a number of important skills that would help me succeed in my profession. While working under Solinas, who was my supervisor, I was able to learn and recognize my strengths and weaknesses. I was given the chance to develop and express my thoughts and opinions. I have also been able to put what I've learned into practice thanks to this practicum. As an aspiring Social Worker it was significant for me to gain from the experts. Therefore, MIAG assisted me in learning how to serve the community. I have witnessed and experienced how skillfully the MIAG team strives to foster an inclusive and respectful community. It was wonderful to observe how they collaborate and devise various strategies to raise awareness of numerous social issues that require  resolution in our society. All in all, MIAG was a superb encounter for myself and I will cherish it forever."
