A Proud Moment of Recognition for Our Outstanding Leaders

At MIAG, we believe that strong leadership and community dedication are the cornerstones of lasting change—and today, we are thrilled to shine a spotlight on three of our extraordinary leaders whose efforts have been publicly recognized for their exceptional service.

We are overjoyed to share that Nermin Foda has been honoured with the Civic Award of Recognition by the Mayor of Mississauga, Carolyn Parrish! Nominated by our local Councillor, this prestigious accolade celebrates Nermin’s outstanding contributions and steadfast commitment to uplifting our community.

Through visionary leadership and unwavering dedication, Nermin has played a vital role in advancing MIAG’s mission to empower individuals and families from diverse backgrounds. Her work continues to inspire and guide impactful programs that foster inclusion, equity, and well-being.

We are beyond proud to announce that Huda Abbas has been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal—a rare and distinguished honour presented by MP Peter Fonseca at Le Treport Convention Centre on March 6, 2025.

This award is a reflection of Huda’s tireless leadership and her commitment to creating meaningful change within our communities. Her ability to lead with heart, strategy, and service has elevated MIAG’s impact across the region, and this recognition is well-deserved.

Conflict can significantly impact our organization's health and effectiveness, whether we’re dealing with clients in distress, navigating interpersonal issues among staff, or handling high-stakes situations with community partners.

"I want to thank my amazing mother Mesoon Al-madani for picking up this award on my behalf and I want to thank Miag Centre and Fatena Akache for providing the great opportunity. I was teaching classes at the time and could not make it. Through this program, I had the opportunity to spend the year coaching parents and kids on how to best improve their communication skills with each other. I coached them on topics such as the 5 love languages, different personality styles, responsibilities in the home, school grades, work and fun balance, leading by example and so much more. I found it much more effective that both the parents and the kids were in the same room. It brought out some real and honest feedback and we were able to solve and answer the questions and concerns they had but were never able to voice." Hassan Wadi
