Building Bridges is a three year project that comprises of a 15-week program created for women who have aspiring goals for their future. The program covers a wide range of topics from leadership, communication, employment resources, entrepreneurship, community development and much more. This is a program that gives women of various backgrounds the opportunity to gain and improve their skills in a warm and welcoming environment.
In addition, each participant is required to do a 20 hour practicum where they can put into practice their new skills and continue to develop them. Women will also create their own community development projects involving other people in their communities and networks.
I want to talk about the experience I had with BB at MIAG:
“Before the start of the program, I did not know what to do. Now, after the program, I know what I need to improve on. I have to improve my networking and I have to find volunteer opportunities.
In Building Bridges, I gained practical facilitation and cross-cultural knowledge and skills, encouraged me to believe in myself, to pursue my goals, and not to give up. Building Bridges help us to build the strength and confidence we need to face the difficulties of our daily life. Also, the program worked as a bridge between us and the community we intend to serve. I get connected with neighbourhood community, community resources, and build up my own networking, so I have empowered and I have gained feelings of belonging”. By Syeda
The Building Bridges program is highly recommended for anyone who wants to improve their self-development. It’s generously funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
