Mental Health

This Project is funded by the United Way Greater Toronto and consists of two components, the train the trainers program and the counselling services.

Train the Trainers Program: Let’s Keep Talking about Mental Health

This program aims to break the stigma, help people understand how to help someone facing a mental health crisis or challenge, learn about signs and symptoms and connect with available resources. The training topics include Children and Mental Health, Women Abuse and Mental Health, Seniors and Mental Health, Mental Health First Aid (Basic), and Mental Health First Aid for Adults who interact with Youth. Each training is offered twice throughout the year either in the mornings, evenings and/or weekends.

More than a hundred trainees took part in different training series. After completing the training, trainees deliver a presentation to their networks including their families and friends. This programming model multiplies recipients number and takes the ripple effect far in the community. Just in the past year, more than a thousand people were reached with the message of mental health and well-being.

The project successfully concluded with a year end celebration held at the Burnhamthorpe Library, where everyone joined together to share our program outcomes. Community members enjoyed listening to the testimonials, participating in our discussion panel and receiving their certificates.

MIAG continues to look forward in offering the community this great mental health training opportunity.  Please see the new flyer for more details. For more information please contact Linda Le Pera: or call (905) 270-1829
